At an event at the State House on May 5th, the Eos Foundation proudly recognized eleven Worcester Public Schools along with other partners from 92 schools across 19 Massachusetts districts with $56,000 in grants for their commitment to support universal free, after the bell, breakfast in the classroom (BIC) as a powerful tool to fight childhood hunger, and boost academic achievement in our high-need communities. Over 41,000 students in high need schools benefit from these schools’ breakfast programs each school day.

The WPS All-City Summer Music Program is a free instrumental music program consisting of a Concert Band and String Ensemble.

Worcester Public Schools students published in It’s Lit! were honored on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Durkin Administration Building. It's Lit! is an annual celebration of student writing and all students in preschool through Grade 12 were encouraged to submit original, not previously published creative works such as poems, memoirs, and short stories.

The 39th Annual Mini Olympics was held June 1, 2016 at Commerce Bank Field at Foley Stadium.

On Thursday, May 26th students at Elm Park Elementary School demonstrated their coding skills. WPS recently purchased several robots that respond to the codes programmed by students; students use coding to make the robots travel from one location to another.

The Worcester Public Schools Elementary School VEX Robotics Tournament will be held at Quinsigamond Community College - Suprenant Hall - Hebert Auditorium.

On Friday April 29th, Elm Park Community School took part of the “Stand for the Silent" Day. Stand for the Silent is one of the leading and most effective anti-bullying organizations, whose mission is to bring awareness to bullying and the real devastation it causes.
